Animato is a classical music record label and part of Bauer Studios Ludwigsburg, founded in 1949 by Rolf Bauer. The company has grown and developed quickly and is today not only the oldest, but also one of the largest recording studios in Germany.

Animato’s values lie in vital performances, transparent sound and extraordinary programmes. The label is specialized in the challenging debut of excellent artists and premiere recordings. Their unique products are a result of their sound engineers’ long-time experience, their empathy, attention to detail and special packaging. The state-of-the-art technology, excellent artists and outstanding sound engineering craft turn Animato productions into a unique audiophile experience.

At Bauer Studios they have built up a reputation with producers and artists over a period of over 60 years. Not just by virtue of their professional technical equipment, but also because of their extensive capability, sensibility and know-how which has been built up over the decades. Animato generally operates using the very latest equipment, but can at any time revert to using older, tried and tested technology and most importantly, they have the necessary experience and expertise to use both to best effect. There’s hardly any tape format with which the label doesn’t work and no sound recording medium which they can’t utilise.

Vital performances, transparent sound and extraordinary programs.

Animato’s repertoire is very extensive and consists of several genres including chamber music, music for children, brass players, woodwinds, orchestral wind music, organ, percussion, piano, vocal, Christmas music and contemporary. The collection features performances of works by great masters such as Sibelius, Schnittke, Bach, Beethoven, Schubert as well as lesser-known composers.
