CSO Resound is the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s own in-house record label, launched in 2007. This independent record label features live performances with renowned conductors and guest artists.

Overview

CSO Resound showcases the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at its best with high quality sound recordings. The name CSO Resound, reflects the distinct and powerful sound of the orchestra itself, an ensemble critically acclaimed for its sonic excellence. ‘Resound’ refers to recording and consequently reliving the experience of an exquisite concert. 

The label has won prestigious Grammys in the category ‘Best Engineered Classical Album’. Furthermore, the orchestra itself has won fifty-eight Grammys, that’s more than any other orchestra in the world. The orchestra has one of the most expansive repertoires with over 900 recordings since 1916. And through CSO Resound the orchestra continues its celebrated recording tradition.

Repertoire

The label has released recordings of works by renowned composers, including Gustav Mahler, Bruckner, Poulenc, Shostakovich, Verdi, Strauss, Stravinsky, Prokofiev and Ravel, as well as recordings of works for brass instruments as performed by artists of the exceptional brass section of the orchestra. CSO Resound’s conductors include the widely notable music director Riccardo Muti, principal conductor Bernard Haitink, conductor emeritus Pierre Boulez and New York Philharmonic’s music director Alan Gilbert.
