foobar2000 is an advanced freeware audio player for the Windows platform, only supporting all later versions from Windows XP SP2/SP3 onwards. It was developed by Peter Pawlowski, who previously worked for Nullsoft on a freelance contract. foobar2000 is known for being one of the most flexible in user configuration. The user-interface is completely customizable and there is a Software Development Kit (SDK) built-in that allows for third-party developers to fully replace the interface.
A large number of audio file formats including WAV and FLAC. One highlight of foobar2000 is an embedded support for album list, album cover art images and spectrogram visualisation, among its many advanced features.
Compared to other media players, foobar2000 is a lightweight application that loads quickly and plays your media smoothly. It is able to manage a large library with ease. Therefore, regardless of how much music you own, you can be sure to store them them all within the foobar2000 library.
As quick and versatile as it sounds, foobar2000 is not a player for beginners and inexperienced users. There isn't sufficient help wizard to guide users and is not the most intuitive software.
For all the pros, the latest version 1.3.8 is now available for download here.
